General English Plus Global Competence

This course is suited to students who want to learn more than just a language: our English + Global Competence course supports students to become ‘global citizens’ who are self-aware and connected to the world around them. In the mornings, students will join General English classes where they focus on developing all four skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening. In the afternoons, students will expand their global mindset alongside their intercultural communication skills.

What will I learn?

Course content

On this course you will:

  • Develop a deeper sense of self-awareness and an awareness of others as ‘global citizens’

Course options

  • English for Work

    This course is practical and focuses on developing communication skills and language needed to work effectively in an English-speaking environment. Practise writing skills for CVs and cover letters, speaking skills for interviews and customer service, and presentation and meeting skills for the workplace. The minimum level for this course is B1+.

    – Customer care, dealing with customers effectively on the phone and face-to-face

    – Effective meeting skills, chairing and participating in meetings and understanding the psychological process of decision making

    – Presentation skills, planning and organising a presentation using PowerPoint, and how to use voice and body language to get a message across effectively
